About SA Technologies

Innovative. Collaboration. Integrity. Performance. Four guiding Principles.

SA Technologies is the premier provider of expert solutions for your information challenges. We apply lessons learned from 30+ years of research to deliver the right information, at the right time, in the right format for decision making and action. Our capabilities and solutions are engineered to increase performance in individuals, human teams and human — system teams, while reducing costly and potentially catastrophic errors.

About Situation Awareness:

At its essence, Situation Awareness (SA) is about having the information you need about the environment and the system you operate to make effective decisions.

In high demand jobs, SA makes the difference between success and failure. When people are required to make critical choices – sometimes at a fast pace – the vast majority of errors that occur are a direct result of failures in situation awareness. In the operation of complex systems, the result can be catastrophic – airplanes crash, emergency response teams flounder, power distribution networks go down, critical commercial systems falter – all at a great cost in lives and dollars.

There are three levels of situation awareness:

  1. Perceiving critical factors in the environment (Level 1 SA),
  2. Understanding what those factors mean, particularly when integrated together in relation to the operator’s goals (Level 2 SA)
  3. Projecting or anticipating what will happen in the near future (Level 3 SA).

These higher levels of SA allow people to function in a timely and effective manner, even with very complex and challenging tasks.

About SA Technologies:

SA Technologies is founded and led by Dr. Mica Endsley, widely recognized as a pioneer and world leader in the study and application of situation awareness in advanced systems. She is a former President of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and former Chief Scientist for the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Endsley is the author of over 200 scientific articles and reports on situation awareness, decision-making, and human-system integration and is widely cited in professional journals. She is the co-author of “Designing for Situation Awareness” and speaks extensively at conferences. Dr. Endsley has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California. She is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE).
